What is Cinema Therapy?
Cinema Therapy is a new weight loss method that uses contemporary film as a teaching tool. Because movies elicit strong emotions, they can be a very effective tool for creating change. Everyone has experienced sadness, joy, fear, desire, guilt, or other emotions while watching a movie. Exploring why a particular movie scene elicits a particular emotion can help people learn quickly about their own emotional triggers that are related to overeating. Cinema Therapy is not only effective but it is fun too.
What does this mean to me?
Have you wondered why people lose weight only to regain it (and more) later? This happens when a person loses weight without dealing with the underlying reasons that cause the initial weight gain. Most people would blame obesity on overeating or not getting enough exercise. While these answers explain how a person gains weight, they don't explain why a person gains weight. Why does a person overeat and why is a person unable to stop overeating? Answering these questions takes time and commitment and a willingness to delve into the past. Movies can be a powerful faciliatator of discussions and help people share ideas and emotions. |
